Residencies and development opportunities for emerging and established poets.

The Poets of Colour Incubator, a collaboration between Manchester Poetry Library and Words of Colour, provides vital support to emerging poets of colour resident in the North of England — defined as the Arts Council England North region covering the North West, Yorkshire and the North East.

Forms welcomed

All poetry forms, including spoken word, interdisciplinary, visual and participatory practice

Offers

Space to develop, test and perform new work; a personalised model of creative entrepreneurship and wellbeing; mentors and critical friends

The programme particularly encourages applications from poets who wouldn’t normally consider applying for development opportunities, awards or prizes.

Community residencies

The Library also offers a six-week residency slot to community reading groups, writing groups, or anyone who can offer a connected workshop series, hosted at the Library on Wednesday evenings. Interested groups can get in touch with the Library team directly to discuss availability.
