Mother Tongue Other Tongue

A doctoral programme pairing a poet with a composer to produce a new opera, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music and BBC Philharmonic.
Write Where We Are Now

Our poets work as writers, presenters, guests, and readers on a range of radio and TV shows, extending the reach of contemporary poetry into public life.
Poetry CPD

Aimed at teachers and pupils, our poetry continuing professional development programme develops skills, exercises, and strategies for including poetry in primary education.
Granada Foundation Community Languages

There are more than 200 languages spoken in Manchester. The Manchester Poetry Library — with sponsorship from the Granada Foundation — grows its collection to represent as many language communities as possible, sourcing recommendations directly from the community.
Our poets and poetry critics create projects for stage and screen, books, and partnerships with public events. We also collaborate with other research teams at the University, including Manchester Voices and the Centre for Youth Studies.
