Manchester Poetry

A global centre for the practice, study and social impact of poetry, from undergraduate level to PhD and beyond.

With the School of English and the Manchester Writing School, we offer a range of degrees and short courses, a series of public reading events, a programme of outreach activities, a major international writing competition and an annual festival of children’s literature.

This includes the highly ranked BA Creative Writing programme and the poetry pathway in the Manchester Writing School’s MA/MFA in Creative Writing, alongside doctoral students working on critical and creative writing PhDs. Manchester Writing School has strong partnerships with many of the city’s major cultural and arts organisations, including the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester Literature Festival and Manchester International Festival.
